the Wedding Singer

This Saturday I am singing at a friends' wedding. I am looking forward to but am also a little nervous.

It's quite bizarre to be singing at this wedding - she had not heard me sing before asking me. I take that to be an act of faith, which is quite typical of this friend. I have now sung for her, and I believe that she was quite happy with what she heard.

The music that I am singing is not quite what I have sung for a wedding before, but it should be fine. It is funny that a couple of the songs had no 'real' music and I was forced to grab the chords and lyrics of the internet, then listen to recordings and make the necessary adjustments. It has been an intense couple of days getting the music to a state where I can share it with the other muso's that I are accompanying me in our rehearsal tomorrow.

The only thing that has marred (although it wasn't really a major issue) is having to get a new guitarist in last Saturday afternoon. I originally had a guitarist - a colleague from work, but he asked to be replaced when it was obvious that the football grand final was to be replayed the following week due to a draw.....Now I have an ex-student accompanying me, which is quite surreal.

It's totally normal to be nervous. But don't be! You'll do great!
