A few interesting spellings for you all which I have got from the exams.....(correct spelling will be in brackets)
Chellow (cello)
Motztart (Mozart)
exzylophone (xylophone)
Sabalius (Sibelius)
Siriel (serial)
Sticcato (staccato)
Synfony (Symphony)
A factual point raised - Cole Porter was singing on a recording made a good 20 years or so after his death! Pretty impressive if you ask me.
And a couple of quotes:
"the start is really strong and powerful. The end is like bang it's over"
"And it changes to major which is a sign in classical music that the piece is about to end".
Only 35 more to go and then I can get onto the reports.....200 of them!
Cheers
Since I began, this blog has been about me....complete ramblings but always my raw thoughts......

quotes
Here are some quotes that I picked up from my marking over the past few days. Remember that all of these are to do with music....
"the confusing circus-like instruments were removed" (have they been to my year 8 band rehearsal?)
"an important historical context relating to the history of the music" (in case you were wondering)
"maracas play silently to give that latin dancing groove" (I wish all percussionists did this - especially those who have no sense of rhythm)
"pungent and confronting" (I can only assume this is referring to a sound)
"light feminine type of notation with a soft touch"
"becomes more of an artwork alongside a great musical piece" (this is obviously not their favourite piece of music)

The power of music
Today I learnt this......
"it's as if the music will actually be able to calm an enraged gorilla".
I have seen this happen - when I have played 'Morning Mood' to my Year 8s......
the testosterone seemed to leave the room and we had an intellectual conversation about the music and how the composer was so amazing in that he only used 5 notes and it sounded so fresh....(the words of my boys!)
the kid must have been in the room!

A quickie for you all......busy correcting exams - 15 to go out of 100.
I have learnt through this marking that the 1930s were medieval times.....I am yet to find out what neo casticismo means....anyone?
Whilst having lunch I flipped on the tv and watched a few film clips -which I don't normally do. Here is my new favourite.

catch up
Evening all. Long time no write.....
It is stupidly hot here at the moment. Over 30 for the last 4 days and more of the same for the next few.......OMG! Apparently the last time November was this hot was 80 years ago.
About 3 weeks ago we were snuggling under warm blankets. Now, I am realising that I don't have enough warm weather clothes.
I love the end of Spring - so full of surprises. I just wonder what Summer is going to be like if the weather is like this and we haven't hit that season yet!
On other news - I hate the amount of correction that I have to do. My student teachers - whilst they were busily correcting - did Sweet FA in relation to leaving me with any decent marks to work with. I have to chase too many kids for my liking. What a complete waste of time they were for me!
